A great networker is always a passionate person. You can teach a person to do anything they are willing to work at learning. You can teach people how to type, learn a new software code, even fly an airplane. Passion can not be taught. Passion is what the politicians call the “fire in the belly”. When you find your passion in life, you will become successful. That success will not be determined by how often you see your name in the newspaper or by the size of your savings account. That success will be determined by the joy you have each and every day you live on planet Earth. Find your passion and true happiness will follow.

Networking is not about selling anything to anybody. Networking is about creating relationships. If you create great relationships, you will more often than not, either make sales or have a relationship with someone who refers business to you on a regular basis. Networking is about giving more than receiving. I promise you that if you give, you will also receive. It may not be from the person you gave the gift to but you will be repaid by someone. This is a Biblical principle that I believe works even if you do not believe in the Bible.

I am fortunate to be a pretty good networker. Some folks say that I am one of the best in the Atlanta area. I don’t know about that but I do know that anyone can become a good networker if they are willing to work at it. The root word of networking is WORK and you will not succeed at becoming a good networker if you don’t work. I am amazed when I meet someone who says, "I am not afraid of hard work". I figure that I am talking to someone who has never really done any. Hard work is just that but it is the foundation of successful networking.
