Since the publication of the Heart of Networking, Second Edition, it has been gratifying to read what others are saying about the book on Amazon. I wrote the books to share ideas I've had over the past 40 years. I tell people that I never intended to make money selling books (or through my speaking engagements) and so far, it has worked out great.

I am in Orange Beach, Alabama beginning the process of writing an update to my 2004 book, The Heart of Networking. My initial purchase of 5,000 copies have been sold or given away to clients and friends. I am going to add a few chapters on social networking which was not as important in 2004 as it is today. I am not going to write a detailed explanation of every one of the social networking tools since there are already many books on each of them. I am going to write about my usage of social networking platforms.

May 8th, 2010 was the 10th anniversary of the Digital Ball which is the Black Tie extravaganza benefiting TechBridge. This was one of the finest of them all. Networking is not about selling anything to anybody. Networking is about creating relationships. If you create great relationships, you will more often than not, either make sales or have a relationship with someone who refers business to you on a regular basis. Networking is about giving more than receiving. I promise you that if you give, you will also receive. It may not be from the person you gave the gift to but you will be repaid by someone. This is a Biblical principle that I believe works even if you do not believe in the Bible.
