The definitive networker, Ricky Steele, shared the elementals of his art with a large early morning crowd at TAG’s Entrepreneurial SIG.

Profound and wickedly funny (often simultaneously!), Ricky Steele’s art of networking is not rooted in gain, but in service. For example, when he says to be organized and to know your networking contacts, he does not mean the usual details - he means to know their spouse’s and children’s names, their college affiliations, their sports interests, what’s important in their lives. Know them as people first.

Ricky encouraged the crowd to improve their networking and serving capabilities by arriving early to networking events, and volunteering often. Not a bad start to the new year, for Ricky to remind us of the ethics and humanity that must lie behind business. Look out for Ricky’s new book in late Spring of 2004.
