Networking is A-OK

Networking guru Ricky Steele was at OK Cafe on Oct. 11, but not for the avocado omelets or blueberry power shakes. He was signing copies of his new book, "The Heart of Networking," which outlines Steele's strategy of building a strong people network.
"It's my approach to making an environment where you can be successful," he said. "That success has nothing to do with how much money you have in the bank but how many relationships you've created."
Some of Atlanta's tech elite were on hand, including executive recruiters Jim Boone and Alan Neely and venture capitalists Sig Mosley, Charlie Paparelli and Kathy Harris.
Steele, a former Korn/Ferry International executive, dealt with early-stage tech companies at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in the late 1990s. That's where he helped create the accounting firm's popular Money Tree venture capital survey.
Prior to that, he ran his own consulting firm, which helped write the business plan for what is now the Technology Association of Georgia.
